What’s out there

Energy help comes in more forms than most people realise

Concessions

Ongoing discounts on electricity and gas for holders of an eligible pension, health care or DVA card — usually applied straight to your bill once you supply your card details.

Hardship & life support

One-off grants for people in a short-term crisis facing disconnection, plus subsidies for households running approved life-support equipment. Most don’t need a concession card.

Solar & battery

State programs offering rebates or interest-free loans for solar panels and home batteries — often on top of the federal battery incentive. See the 2026 battery rebate.

Rebates plus a cheaper plan

Claim every rebate — then cut the bill underneath

Rebates lower what you pay; a cheaper plan lowers what you’re charged. They stack. EnergySorted finds the cheapest plan for your real usage while you claim what you’re owed.

Questions

Energy rebates — straight answers

What energy rebates am I eligible for?

It depends on your state and whether you hold an eligible concession card (pension, health care or DVA). Pick your state above to see the electricity, gas, life-support, solar and hardship schemes that may apply, then confirm details with each administrator.

Do I need a concession card to get an energy rebate?

Many core concessions require an eligible card, but not all. Life-support subsidies, hardship grants and most solar/battery programs don’t. Choose "No concession card" above to see the schemes that don’t need one.

Why don’t you show the dollar amount of each rebate?

Rebate amounts change every year and depend on your circumstances, so a fixed figure would quickly be wrong. We show what each scheme is and who runs it, and link you to the official source for the current amount and how to claim.

How do I actually claim an energy rebate?

Most state rebates are applied by your energy retailer once you give them your concession-card details, or claimed through the state government. The state rebate guide linked in the tool walks through the steps for your state.

Can I get a rebate and still switch retailers?

Yes. State energy concessions follow you to your new retailer — you just re-supply your card details. Switching to a cheaper plan and claiming every rebate you’re entitled to stack together. EnergySorted helps with the first half.
