EnergySorted compares every published electricity and gas plan against your real usage, not against a typical household. That means the one thing it needs from you is a recent bill. Everything else is optional.
You do not need a credit card to start. The trial runs for 30 days, and you can see what you would save before you decide whether the product is worth paying for.
Your first ten minutes
- Create an account and confirm your email address.
- Upload a recent electricity bill (a PDF from your retailer is best — see the guide on uploading a bill).
- Check the details we read off it. If a number looks wrong, correct it: everything downstream is costed from these figures.
- Open the comparison and look at the ranked plans. The saving shown is against what your current plan actually charged you.
- Turn on alerts so you are told when something cheaper appears, rather than having to remember to check.
What happens after that
Plan prices change constantly, and retailers rarely tell existing customers when a better deal appears on their own price list. Once your bill is on file, EnergySorted re-checks the market against your usage and tells you when the gap is worth acting on.
Upload each new bill as it arrives. More bills mean a more accurate picture of your seasonal usage, which makes the comparison better — a single summer bill will over-state your air-conditioning for the year.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a smart meter?
No. A bill is enough. If you do have a smart meter and share interval data, the comparison gets more precise on time-of-use plans, but it is not required.
How many bills should I upload?
One gets you a comparison. Four (a full year) gets you a comparison that accounts for summer and winter properly.
Does EnergySorted take a commission from retailers?
No. The subscription is the only revenue, which is why the ranking can put a retailer that pays nobody at the top.
